Potential of Russian shipbuilding industry was discussed in Navy capital of Russia

In the context of Round table “Development of the fleet for shelf oil and gas exploration” experts discussed the experience and prospects of Russian shipbuilding in conditions of new economic reality and development of high-technological production.

According to the experts’ opinion, the most actual problem of the branch today is creation of multifunctional icebreakers for arctic zone. Russia faced a complex of economical, technical and political problems. Economical problems are connected with extreme conditions of the climate of Arctic region. According to the common opinion of the participants of the discussion, “solving this problem requires great financial investment and real scientific-technical breakthrough, especially in terms of penalty policy of many countries”.

But, specialists of Kurchatov scientific center say, we have a reason for optimism. The main importers of hydrocarbons in nearest future will be countries from Asia-Pasific region (China, Japan, India). It is a real motivation to develop Russian fleet on a qualitatively new level.
