Sakhalin Energy extends cooperation with Sovcomflot

Companies signed contracts for long-term operation of three vessels for the Sakhalin-2 project

Moscow, 7 July 2014: Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. (Sakhalin Energy) and Sovcomflot Group (Sovkomflot) have signed contracts for the construction and long-term operation of three multifunctional icebreaking standby vessels to serve the Sakhalin-2 offshore energy platforms. Operations under the contract will continue for 20 years. The vessels will be used as year round personnel carrier and also as supply vessels for offshore platforms in the Sea of Okhotsk. In case of emergency, the vessels will be deployed for personnel evacuation and oil spill response.


Rosneft started geological exploration in the Barents and Pechora sea

Rosneft has started field works at five license blocks of the Barents and Pechora Seas: East Prinovozemelsky, located in the North-Eastern part of the Barents sea near the Novaya Zemlya archipelago, Perseevsky, located in the North-Western part of the Barents sea, and at the South Russky, South Prinovozemelsky and West Matveevsky license blocks, located in the Pechora Sea.

Rosneft and ExxonMobil within the framework of the Sakhalin-1 consortium put into operation the Berkut platform at the Arkutun-Dagi field having successfully installed topside at gravity base structure.


US set to allow crude oil exports after four decade ban

The US Commerce Department has given the go-ahead to several companies to export crude oil, a big policy change essentially ending a ban in place for the last four decades. At question is whether the end of the ban will mean higher prices at the pump.

Lukoil, NewAge farm into Bowleven’s Cameroon offshore block

Bowleven will reduce its interest in the Etinde permit from 75% to 25% and receive aggregate consideration of approximately $250 million (subject to final working capital adjustment) comprising: $170 million cash payment at completion; $40 million staged deferred cash payment due at Etinde development project FID and on completion of appraisal drilling; and $40 million (net) carry for two appraisal wells.


Rosheft and ExxonMobil have installed unique Berkut platform on Sakhalin shelf

Rosneft and ExxonMobil, within the framework of the Sakhalin-1 Consortium, have finished transport operation on transportation and installation of a unique sea drilling platform Berkut, which has the biggest upper part in the world at Arkutun-Dagi on North East shelf of Sakhalin Island. The adjustment works will be finished in a matter of days. The upper part of the platform has travelled in hauling mode 2600 km approximately from Corean shipyard with no incidents to report

Russia to apply for Arctic shelf borders in 2015

Russia will apply to the United Nations next year to affirm borders of its economic zone in the Arctic, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoy said on Wednesday.

The initial total amount of recoverable resources in the Russian Arctic is estimated at 106 billion tonnes of oil equivalent, including 69.5 trillion cubic meters of gas, Russian Gas Society President Pavel Zavalny said.
